Permanent Exhibition Design and Delivery, Compton Verney, Warwickshire

At Metaphor, I was lead designer for this exhibition commissioned by collector Sir Peter Moores to redisplay his art collection in a listed Robert Adam house in an 18th century landscape. The diverse collection ranges from Neapolitan paintings to Chinese bronzes, and from German medieval religious sculpture to Britain’s largest folk art collection and presented the challenge of unifying the experience of the exhibition. Where Peter Moores’ intention was to open up art for a wider audience, here, signage, access and interpretation became key, and in the welcome space, the illuminated light box installation for wayfinding became pivotal. The new displays opened in 2004.
